Halloween in New Orleans: October 2024
You know, the word ‘Spooktacular’ used to really MEAN something in this country. In New Orleans, thankfully, it still does. Does any other city go as hard as us when it comes to Halloween? If you’re in any doubt, just check this line up of scary and spooky events - some for families, some just for adults. We'll list the Haunted Houses and attractions, then events, then the (mostly) adult shows. This list will be regularly updated as we get closer to Halloween, 2024. Happy Halloween month, y’all.
Haunted Houses and similar
Most of these seasonal venues are open for all of October, but this varies, so be sure to check individual dates and book tickets in advance where possible. Also, be sure to check any age restrictions or if it’s appropriate for your kids - the experiences vary in terms of how intense they are.

The Mortuary Haunted House @ 4800 Canal St
“An unhallowed eve of revelry” at this former funeral home. Open through Nov 4th.

The annual spectacle of Louellen Berger’s front yard boneyard.

A multimedia display of Halloween sights. Open Oct 17th-20th, 24th-27th, 30th-31st, 7pm-10pm
Krewe of Krampus/Swampus Returns, Various locations
The Krewe of Krampus has a selection of spooky events including a Haunted Swamp Tour, Scavenger Hunt and Halloween House Parade. More info
The Tarot Hearse @ Gracious Bakery on St Charles Avenue (check website for times).
The only place in the world where you can get your tarot cards read inside of a hearse! More info

Krewe of BOO! became New Orleans' Official Halloween Parade in 2007, and since then has grown to be a spooktacular weekend of Halloween-themed events, combining the magnitude of Mardi Gras with the macabre theatrics of All Hallow's Eve.
