Out Right Now: Good Thing by Joy Clark
A must for your emotional Feng Shui
New Orleans singer-songwriter Joy Clark recently released a new single and it's a good thing.
Did I want to be taken back to my happy place when I pressed play? No. But boy was I. Good Thing reminds me of car rides with my mother listening to Life Songs on the radio. The happy medium between gospel and alternative that rocks with all the positivity one could possibly muster without flat out invoking Jesus. Windows down pushing good vibes onto the unsuspecting New Orleans pedestrians. Ya know? My happy place.
Good Thing by Joy Clark is an acoustic, guitar-lead ballad with a chorus that won’t quit. Take my hand and go listen to it. We got a good thing from this New Orleans artist.
The song starts with soft vocals and finger picking guitar in a very clean and crisp recording that almost sounds like it could have been recorded in the coffee shop from those youtube videos. Then, wouldn’t you know it, it slides into a little accompanying drums with great back seat temperament. These works of art are later followed by violins that fill the whole space of the song with all the right answers to the song's questions. The instruments have flair and personality so much so that re-listens become a must.
You may have been distracted by the soulful singing on the first listen, but Joy Clark’s guitar skills are there and waiting for your appreciation. Did I mention that this new single from Joy Clark is a good thing? So much love, so much joy, so much Clark. A Good Thing.
