Summer Festivals 2023: Round Up
Summer’s here and the time is right for, er, leaving perfectly good air-conditioned rooms and going to the city’s festivals. Psyche yourself up, grab the sunscreen and the biggest water bottle you can carry, and throw yourself sweatily into these summer fests and events:
July 14-16
San Fermin in Nueva Orleans
This tradition began in 2007 to pay homage to the historic running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.In San Fermin, they run with the bulls, in New Orleans, we run with the roller derby folk. SIgn up and dress in red and white to run through the Warehouse District while being chased by skaters wielding plastic bats.
July 22
Vegan 2 the Soul Food & Lifestyle Festival
Now in its fifth year, this annual vegan food and lifestyle festival takes place at Lemann Park on the Lafitte Greenway. If you’re interested in a healthier lifestyle and plant-based living, then this is the fest for you. Featuring local performers, dozens of vegan food vendors, and handmade goods that support a sustainable vegan lifestyle.

Tales of the Cocktail
Mix it up at this annual event that has the world’s booze industry descend on New Orleans.
The 2023 theme is to ‘Vitalize’ the cocktail community, with tasting room experiences, educational seminars from the world’s top spirits experts and cocktail-centric events such as spirited dinners.

White Linen Night
This art-centric, annual Warehouse District block party returns, turning the 300 to 600 blocks of Julia Street and the neighborhood into a sea of linen and seersucker. Expect free openings at several art galleries and institutions, as well as music and food and drink from local vendors.

Satchmo SummerFest
New Orleans’ favorite son, Louis Armstring, is celebrated in this summer music festival. An entire weekend of music artists, including local jazz musicians and brass bands along with seminars and food from various local restaurants.

Red Dress Run
This charity fun run sees people in various stages of alcoholic refreshment jog, walk and stumble along the course. Downtown is littered with victims come the afternoon, but hey, it’s all for a good cause.

Dirty Linen Night
Coinciding with the drunken jock overspill from Red Dress Run, artier types congregate in the FQ to drink and look at art in a kind of filthier satire on White Linen Night. The 200 to 1100 blocks of historic Royal Street has galleries and shops opening their doors and playing host to visitors with art, food, cocktails, and musicians.
Aug 31-Sept 1
Southern Decadence
The huge festival celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. Expect high-octane hedonism throughout the Quarter and beyond. Look out especially for the Bourbon Street Extravaganza, a free outdoor concert at of Bourbon and St. Ann, and the annual Walking Parade.
