Red letter day: The New Orleans Creole Tomato Festival

NOWFE, Juneteenth, Pride and Tomato Festivals
The next couple of weeks sees a flurry of events before the slower summer months, so we thought we’d break some of it down for you. Here’s a round up of some of the main happenings around town in early June: 

Wed 5th
New Orleans Wine and Food Experience (NOWFE) - through June 9th

This celebration of food and wine returns for its 32nd year, including a series of wine dinners at restaurants, the Tournament of Roses, a Grand Tasting and Burlesque, Bubbly and Brunch and more. More info

Fri 7th
New Orleans Pride Festival - through June 9th

A full weekend of events celebrating our local LGBTQ+ community. Parades, parties and community happenings take place across the weekend. More info

Tournament of Rosés, 6.30pm
One of NOWFE’s most popular events: Taste premier rosés- both still and sparklers- from France, Spain, Italy, United States and the Southern Hemisphere. Enjoy tasty bites from New Orleans restaurants and a DJ. More info

Sat 8th
Creole Tomato Festival - through June 9th

The 38th annual Creole Tomato Festival returns to the French Quarter - expect food vendors selling all manner of tomato-related dishes and novelties, plus live music, demonstrations and more.​ More info

The Grand Tasting, 3pm
NOWFE’s signature event. This huge food market showcases wines from around the world and food served by New Orleans’ finest chefs. More info

Pride Parade, 6pm
The actual parade for the Pride Weekend celebrations. It will loop through the French Quarter and end on Bourbon St between St Ann and Dumaine. More info

Fri 14th
Juneteenth Comedy Jam

Black Girl Giggles presents Chanel Ali in  a night of hilarious stand-up comedy celebrating freedom and joy. More info/tickets

Sun 16th
Juneteenth Freedom Gala 2024

Presented by The Louisiana Afro-Indigenous Society, this event kicks off the city’s Juneteenth celebrations. More info 

Wed 19th
NOLA Juneteenth Festival at Armstrong Park/ Congo Square

Celebrate America’s second Independence Day with music, food, DJs and speakers. More info
