Catwalk for a cause: Shots from a previous Ribbons Rock the Runway
Preview: Ribbons Rock the Runway
Around 500 new fashion models will grace the Sugar Mill this Saturday (Oct 1st) at the annual Ribbons Rock the Runway event, produced by You Night Events. This army of first-time fashionistas will gather in an attempt the break the World Record for 'Most Models in a Fashion Show'. The record currently stands at 421, and was set in Madrid, Spain, in 2020.
Ribbons Rock is for a good cause, though, and will also shed light on 18 different women's cancers. Women in the program are ambassadors, helping bring information about early detection, prevention, resources, support and hope to those in the community diagnosed with cancer.
You Night has become an annual fundraiser that helps provide programs and resources to women in Orleans and St. Tammany Parishes who have been diagnosed with any type of cancer. The organization say that their sisterhood of survivors is over 500 women strong, made of mostly of women who find their spark post diagnosis, and want to help others. This community event is billed as a celebration of cancer survivors, families, friends, and health care providers.
The fashion show will begin at around 5.45pm on Saturday evening, and will be followed by a gala, with entertainment from popular 80s cover band, The Molly Ringwalds. Tickets for the event are still available and can be purchased online here.
